HOPE 01 System Requirements
Steam's Windows and Linux specs, plus Deck and FPS notes.
HOPE 01 is a 2D pixel-art extraction RPG from Bending Boy Games. The install is tiny, the CPU line is specific, and the RAM line looks like a typo. This page copies Steam’s published numbers and then adds player-facing notes. We will not “correct” the store page into a number Valve did not print.

- Features listed: Steam Achievements (21), family sharing. Steam Deck compatibility may still display as unknown even when players report good handheld sessions.
- Price at EA start: $11.99 USD list, with a −10% introductory offer in the first week (offer was set to end September 22, 2026). The developer said the price is planned to remain the same after Early Access.
- Install size: 70 MB available space on Windows; 400 MB available space on the Linux listing.

Native Linux is a real selling point. GamingOnLinux covered the game specifically because of that build. If you are on a rolling distro, use the Steam runtime the client offers and do not invent Proton flags unless the native build fails — try native first.
About “16 MB RAM”
Steam’s store page lists 16 MB RAM on minimum. That is not how you spec a 2026 Windows or Linux machine, and it is almost certainly a unit error on the listing. We still print 16 MB because that is the source. Practical advice:
- Do not buy a PC with 16 MB of memory because a wiki said the game “only needs 16 MB.”
- If you are on a normal 8 GB / 16 GB / 32 GB machine, RAM is not the constraint. The CPU line and a working GPU are.
- If the process misbehaves, it will not be because you failed a 16 MB check.
Performance notes (not on the spec sheet)
The game is ~70 MB of pixel art. It can still feel wrong:
- A Steam discussion already described overlay FPS in the thousands, with delayed input and a hiccuping heart-monitor UI. Cap the frame rate in your driver, OS, or overlay if the character lags behind a tap. An in-game cap may or may not exist in your build; do not wait for one.
- Disable exotic overlays if dodge (double-tap) starts registering as a walk.
- This is a 2D game. If you fail minimum CPU, you are on hardware older than the Ryzen 3 3100 / i3-10100F class. Integrated graphics of that era should still be “most GFX cards,” but we will not certify every iGPU.

Steam Deck and handhelds
Official Deck verification may read unknown. Player reports at Early Access start included a review that called Deck play excellent. Practical Deck advice without pretending to be Valve:
- Install the native Linux build if Steam offers it.
- Cap FPS for battery and for input feel.
- Rehearse inventory drag-reload in the hideout; stick + tetris is slower than mouse.
- Map flashlight to a hold you will not confuse with fire. Handheld light is still hold-to-shine until you print a mounted light (Gadgets).
Controller support exists in the product. Keyboard prompts in footage remain the clearest teaching tool.
What you do not need
- A 12 GB GPU.
- An anti-cheat account.
- A second copy for a friend on the same sofa. It is single-player.
- A localization pack. English only in-game.
- High-speed internet after the tiny download finishes. Raids are local PvE.
After it launches on your machine
- Confirm English UI loads.
- Cap FPS if input feels late.
- Do the hideout drills on Getting Started.
- Tick Loadout Checklist before raid one.
- If the client bugs, take it to Discord or Steam forums listed on Links Hub. Bending Boy Games asked for that feedback during Early Access.
